Erasmus+ experience in Schkeuditz (Leipzig), Germany

Author: Josip Cindrić

This year’s Erasmus mobility was different from the previous one because students from all study programs were divided into two groups. One group, consisting of electrical engineering and computer technicians, went to Malaga, Spain, while the other group, made up of mechanical and civil engineering technicians, went to Schkeuditz, Germany.

During the preparation period, all students participated in language, cultural, and pedagogical workshops. The aim of these workshops was to prepare students for cultural differences, local etiquette, and everyday expressions used in the host countries.

The bus journey to Schkeuditz started from Zagreb on 14 March 2026 and lasted approximately 13 hours. We arrived at the Gut Wehlitz campus at around 8 a.m., after which we settled into our accommodation and had breakfast. The rest of the day was spent recovering from the trip and exploring the campus.

The next day, we were introduced to our workshops and mentors. Mechanical engineering students learned to use the program FreeCAD and were given the freedom to design their own projects using a CNC milling machine. Civil engineering students worked on creating and presenting a model of a house.

During the weekend, we went on excursions to Dresden and Berlin. During the weekdays, we visited Leipzig Zoo, the BMW Group Plant in Leipzig, and the Monument to the Battle of the Nations. In their free time, students explored the towns of Schkeuditz and Leipzig, and in the evenings they had access to the campus club.

As always, time flies when you’re having fun, and after two weeks, we returned to Croatia.
